Formulas Name : Wanbao Acupuncture-Substitute Ointment
Chinese Name : 万宝代针膏
Drug Formulation
1 qian of borax, 1 qian of dragon’s blood, 1 qian of mercury oxide, half a qian of toad venom, 1 fen of musk, 1 centipede (with a golden head), a small amount of camphor, and 1 qian of realgar.

Processing
Grind the ingredients into a fine powder, then mix with honey to form a paste.
Benefits
For all types of swollen, malignant sores and swollen lumps with a red halo that have already formed pus but cannot be lanced.
Instructions for Use
Locate the area where the sore has formed a head, use a small needle to lance it open, apply a small amount of the medicine, and seal it with a piece of paper. The next day, the pus will drain on its own. If there is a lump in the armpit—known as a “hidden boil”—or if there are wandering lumps, lance the swollen area open with a needle as described above.
Note
Avoid chicken, mutton, fish, alcohol, and wheat products. It is best to eat plain rice porridge for three days.
