Drug Formulation
Half a jin of refined oil, 7 qian and a half of white gum resin, 7 qian and a half of red gum resin, half a liang of Shaozhou powder, and 7 units of talcum powder (in winter) or 8 units (in summer; as sold in Lin’an).

Processing
Grind the ingredients into a fine powder, mix them into the oil, and simmer over low-to-medium heat in a silver vessel. Stir with a small bundle of willow twigs tied with string, using a twig from a south-facing willow tree, until it forms a paste the color of amber. Test it on the bottom of a white bowl; it is ready when it does not scatter.

Instructions for Use
For scalds, burns, and gunshot wounds, apply the ointment with a chicken feather; for chronic malignant sores, rinse the area with water held in the mouth, or form a ring of flour around the sore and pour the ointment inside—the pain will cease immediately; for wounds from knives or axes, apply the ointment directly to the affected area.
