Drug Formulation

1 liang of single-stemmed Sichuan Angelica (remove the root base and tips; wash; soak in fine wine overnight; strain and drain the next day; slice into thin pieces; roast over low heat until dry), 8 qian of purple-spotted ginseng (remove the root base; slice into pieces; roast over low heat until dry),Amber: 4 qian (grind separately into an extremely fine powder; once the other herbs have been ground into a fine powder, add the amber powder and mix thoroughly),Pine Nut Kernels half liang (remove the shells; grind into a fine powder as with the other ingredients; then add the pine nut kernels alone to the mortar and grind 100–300 times; next, return the mixture of all the powdered ingredients to the mortar and grind together another 100–200 times,Remove the mixture, sift it through a gauze sieve, and sift the remaining powder again; set aside until ready to package), 1 liang of Chuanxiong (chopped into small pieces and dried in an oven), 3 qian and a half of Cinnamomum cassia (coarse bark removed, chopped into small pieces; do not expose to direct flame—dry only in the heat of the sun) (grind into a fine powder and mix into the formula),Licorice 1 liang (lightly roasted over a fire until thoroughly heated), Prepared Rehmannia 2 liang (must be evenly soaked in wine, then steamed nine times and sun-dried each time), White Atractylodes (high-quality, dried; coarsely chopped and dried in an oven) 8 qian, White Poria 1 liang (coarsely chopped and lightly roasted).

Instructions for Use

Take 3 da qian per dose. Add 1.5 medium bowls of water and decoct until reduced to 8 fen. Strain out the residue. While still hot, add a small amount of musk, stir well, and immediately cover the mixture with a small bowl to seal it for a short time. Take the entire dose on an empty stomach before meals; if immediate administration is required, take 2 level qian of the mixture and dissolve it in a small amount of musk-infused decoction. It may also be taken after soaking in wine.

Note

Avoid raw, cold, greasy, and hard foods.
