Drug Formulation

5 jin of white Poria (remove the black skin, finely chopped), 5 liang of licorice (finely chopped).

Processing

Take the above herbs and 6 dou of water; first decoct the licorice until reduced to 3 dou, strain out the residue and clarify the liquid. Return the liquid to the cauldron, add 3 sheng of pure white honey and 9 sheng of good-quality cow’s milk, and mix well. Simmer the Poria over low heat until the milk and honey are completely absorbed. Remove from heat and, while still hot, knead until crumbly. Sort out and remove any red fibers, then knead again until it resembles flour. Dry thoroughly in the shade.

Instructions for Use

Begin with a dose of 3 qian, mixed with water; gradually increase the dose as tolerated, taking it 4–5 times daily.

Note

Avoid foods containing rice vinegar.
