Drug Formulation

Large mugwort leaves (roasted until charred, ground into a fine powder) 5 liang; dried ginger 2.5 liang (roasted, ground into a powder. Mix the powder with 2.5 sheng of vinegar, 2 sheng of high-quality wine free of ash, and 1 sheng of natural ginger juice; combine the ginger and mugwort powders in a silver vessel and simmer over low heat until reduced to a paste); aconite root (roasted, with skin and pith removed) 2.5 liang; white peony root 2 liang; white atractylodes 2 liang; red Sichuan pepper 2 liang;Chuanxiong 2 liang, Danggui (washed, dried) 2 liang, Zi Bajie (core removed, stir-fried with glutinous rice) 2 liang, Ginseng (root tip removed) 2 liang, Schisandra 2 liang.

Processing

Grind the latter nine ingredients into a fine powder, mix them with the paste prepared earlier and 2.5 liang of well-roasted wheat flour, and blend thoroughly. Pound the mixture 1,000 times in a mortar and pestle to form pills the size of a paulownia seed.
