Drug Formulation

1 whole fresh pork liver (first soak in good vinegar for half a day; thoroughly remove all stagnant blood and membranes; slice with a bamboo knife and grind to a very fine powder), 1.5 liang of Eupatorium (stir-fried), 1.5 liang of Sichuan Notopterygium (the “whip-joint” variety), 1.5 liang of Atractylodes (soaked overnight in rice washing water, then stir-fried), 1.5 liang of Angelica sinensis (remove the root stalk, soak in wine), 1.5 liang of Polygala tenuifolia (remove the core), 1.5 liang of Chrysanthemum morifolium, 1 liang of Schizonepeta spica, 1 liang of Lycium barbarum (remove the calyx, soak in wine), 1 liang of Sichuan Aconite (roasted, remove the skin and navel), 1 liang of Saposhnikovia divaricata (remove the root stalk),Plantain Seed 1 liang (roasted), Tussilago Flower 1 liang (stems removed), Kochia Seed 1 liang (roasted), White Angelica Root 1 liang, Scutellaria Root 1 liang, Scrophularia Root 1 liang, Ginseng 1 liang (root base removed), Cuttlefish Bone 1 liang (roasted, shell removed), Small Black Soybeans (roasted, shell removed) 1 liang,1 liang 2 qian of Poria cocos (peeled), 2 liang of Chuanxiong, 2 liang of licorice (roasted), 2.5 liang of Ophiopogon japonicus (core removed), half a liang of bitter sesame seeds, half a liang of cicada slough (cleaned of soil), half a liang of Cassia seeds (roasted), and half a liang of shepherd’s purse seeds (harvested in spring).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, then use the pig liver prepared earlier to form pills the size of a marble.
