Instructions for Use

To use, pierce the center of the sore with a needle deep enough to reach the root of the sore, and also pierce the edges to draw blood. Use a knife to scrape off a soybean-sized amount of the medicine and apply it to the sore. For severe cases, apply the medicine 3–4 times a day and night; for milder cases, 1–2 times. In severe cases, the root begins to rot and emerge after 2 days; in milder cases, after half a day to one day. Observe whether the sore swells—this indicates the root is emerging from the throat. If the root has already rotted, do not stop the treatment but continue applying the medicine. The medicine is very gentle and promotes rapid tissue regeneration. If the disease affects the mouth, throat, chest, or abdomen, there will inevitably be external swelling or abnormal signs. If fever and chills do not subside and this disease is suspected, mix the medicine with a drink or plain water in an amount the size of an apricot kernel and take it. Take 3–4 doses day and night; the swelling will naturally subside and the root will emerge. Alternatively, induce vomiting to expel the root; once the root emerges, the patient will recover. Even if the root does not emerge, the patient will still recover—judge by whether the patient’s spirit and consciousness return to normal. The best time to prepare the medicine is on the 5th day of the 5th month; the 7th day of the 7th month is the next best time,September 9th, and the last day of the twelfth lunar month are all suitable for preparing the medicine. If the medicine is urgently needed on other days, it may also be prepared then.

Note

Avoid sexual intercourse, pork, chicken, fish, beef, raw Chinese chives, garlic, scallions, turnip greens, cilantro, alcohol, vinegar, wheat flour, and mallow; if symptoms flare up due to violating these prohibitions, take the medicine mixed with Goji root decoction.
