Chinese Name : 地黄干漆丸

Drug Formulation

30 jin of plump Rehmannia root (pounded until pulpy to extract the juice; simmer over low heat in a cauldron until it becomes syrupy, then immediately add powdered deer antler gelatin), 4 liang of deer antler gelatin (roasted until puffed up, then pounded into powder; the remainder is stir-fried into beads and pounded until completely pulverized), half a jin of licorice (roasted and ground into powder), 1 jin of powdered raw dried Rehmannia root,4 mian of dried lacquer powder (boil the lacquer in a cauldron over low heat until all smoke has dissipated; immediately add a small amount of wine, then simmer over low heat until dry; let cool before incorporating), 10 black chicken eggs (remove the yolks and use only the whites), 4 liang of rubus fruit powder, 4 fen of smilax root powder,5 liang of areca nut powder, 4 liang of trichosanthes peel powder (remove the pith, roast, weigh, and grind into a powder).

Processing

Simmer the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly, and gradually add 2 dou of clear wine until it is all used up. Do not let it burn; stop as soon as the mixture is suitable for forming pills. Divide into twelve portions, wrap each in wax paper, and place in a porcelain jar; it can be taken for one year. Prepare in the 12th lunar month; in the 2nd or 3rd lunar month, dry them under the scorching sun, and they will not spoil.

Instructions for Use

Take 20 pills per dose, twice daily.

Note

Avoid radishes, garlic, lotus root, winter melon, lotus seeds, fritillary bulb, and white peony root.
