Drug Formulation

2 qian of frankincense, 2 qian of myrrh, 2 qian of field mouse droppings, 2 qian of rock salt, 2 qian of Dipsacus asper, and 1 fen of musk.

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder.

Instructions for Use

Have the patient lie on their back after a full meal. Mix buckwheat flour with water to form a ring with a diameter of just over one cun; if the navel is larger, make the ring two cun in diameter. Place the powdered medicine inside the ring and position it over the navel. Cover the medicine with a slice of locust tree bark, then moxibustion with a piece of mugwort the size of a soybean.Continue the moxibustion for as many years as the patient’s age, then stop. For those without illness, perform the treatment daily; for those with illness, perform it once every three days. Stop when sounds or pain are felt within the abdomen, or when mucus or foam appears in the stool. Drink only rice water and consume white meat and rice wine to enhance the efficacy of the medicine.
