Croton seed 18 zhu, Ophiopogon tuber 10 zhu, Licorice root 5 zhu, Euphorbia resin 2 zhu, Cinnabar 2 zhu, Beeswax 10 zhu, Nutmeg kernel 18 zhu, Oyster shell 8 zhu.

Processing

First, wash the croton seeds with hot water until soft, then grind them; squeeze out the oil using fresh cloth. Separately, pound the licorice, Euphorbia, oyster shell, and ophiopogon, then sift the mixture. Grind the jujube kernels until very fine, then add them to the powder and pound a further 2,000 strokes. If the mixture is too dry to form pills, add a small amount of honey to bind it.

Instructions for Use

For a six-month-old infant, administer a dose equivalent to one pair of perilla seeds;children aged 1–2 years should take a dose equivalent to one pair of half-flaxseeds; those aged 3–4 years, two pills the size of a flaxseed; those aged 5–6 years, two pills the size of a large flaxseed; children aged 7–8 years, two pills the size of a small adzuki bean; and children aged 9–10 years, two pills slightly larger than a small adzuki bean. The medicine should always be taken at cockcrow. If it has not been expelled by sunrise, drink several he of warm porridge to induce evacuation; the pills will be expelled in pairs.In cases of severe diarrhea, drinking cold congee will stop it.
