Drug Formulation

Southern Frankincense (firm variety, not roasted) 2.5 qian, Cloves (with bracts removed, not roasted) 2.5 qian, Green Tangerine Peel (four-lobed variety, pith removed) 2.5 qian, Red Tangerine Peel (white pith removed in warm water) 2.5 qian, Coptis (large variety) 2.5 qian, Beijing Curcuma (roasted over low heat) 4 qian 8 fen,Curcuma zedoaria (roasted over low heat) 4 qian 8 fen, Summer-fermented Pinellia (select clean, white Pinellia, grind into powder, mix with natural ginger juice to form cakes, and sun-dry)2 qian and 5 fen (dry the first 8 ingredients in the sun, then grind them together into a fine powder), Croton Seed (remove the shell, soak in boiling water, grind each seed open one by one, remove the inner membrane, place in a clay vessel, soak in good vinegar overnight, simmer over low heat until the vinegar evaporates, weigh out 6 qian, grind into a fine powder, mix with the previous herbal powder and grind again until uniform, then add the following Black Plum Paste) 4 qian and 5 fen,Black Plum (select those with thick flesh; crack open to separate the flesh from the pit, finely chop, roast over fire until dry, grind into a fine powder; weigh out 5 qian; mix with rice vinegar until slightly clear, then simmer over low heat until it becomes a paste; incorporate into the previous mixture).

Processing

Mix all the above ingredients thoroughly. Use 8 qian of white flour, mixed with water to the appropriate consistency, and cook over low heat to form a paste. Roll into pills the size of millet grains.

Instructions for Use

Take 5–7 pills per dose; 10 pills for those with robust constitutions. Take on an empty stomach at the fifth watch, washed down with tangerine peel decoction. If you do not wish to induce a bowel movement, swallow the liquid; for indigestion or a feeling of fullness, take it with trichosanthes peel decoction; for any accumulated food stagnation, take it with its own juice while cold; for uncontrollable vomiting caused by food, swallowing the liquid will stop it immediately;For unceasing diarrhea caused by food, as well as cholera and vomiting, take with cold water; for red dysentery, take with cold licorice decoction; for white dysentery, take with cold dried ginger decoction; for palpitations, take with Acorus tatarinowii decoction; for mixed red and white dysentery, take with cold licorice and dried ginger decoction; for various types of abdominal pain, take with fresh ginger and tangerine peel decoction;For small intestine colic, take with aniseed wine; for women’s blood and qi disorders, take with Angelica Decoction; if intended to disperse stagnation, take with boiling ginger decoction; for chronic malnutrition, take regularly with rice porridge, regardless of the time of day. If experiencing frequent diarrhea, drink a mouthful of cold water to stop it; this medicine acts when heated and stops when cooled. For children, adjust the dosage of the pills according to their age.
