Processing

Except for Frankincense, Liquidambar, and Pine Resin, roast all the above ingredients until dry and grind them into a fine powder. Use 3 jin of clear oil; heat it until fully rendered, then let it cool. Soak the herbs in a silver or stone container and simmer over low-to-medium heat for 3 days, maintaining a gentle bubbling like fish eyes. Do not allow it to boil vigorously, as this may impair the medicinal properties. Stop when the Fragrant White Angelica turns yellow;Strain the mixture and transfer it to a clean pot. Add 8 liang of beeswax and 2 liang of finely sifted orpiment. Next, add the ground Liquidambar and Frankincense. Stir continuously with acacia or willow twigs, then simmer over low heat for a short while until the mixture solidifies; it is then ready.
