Drug Formulation

Cinnabar (large, mature chunks free of stone) 50 liang, Silla ginseng 4 liang, nutmeg (wrapped in flour and steamed) 4 liang, cardamom 4 liang, long pepper 4 liang, white cardamom seeds 4 liang, red beans 4 liang, Galanga (chopped, stir-fried) 4 liang,Aconite Root (roasted, with skin and pith removed) 4 liang, White Atractylodes 4 liang, Magnolia Bark (stir-fried with ginger juice) 4 liang, Cloves (unroasted) 4 liang, Patchouli Leaves 4 liang, Schisandra Berries 4 liang, Dried Ginger (roasted, peeled) 4 liang, Black Pepper 4 liang, Amomum Villosum Seeds 4 liang, Ophiopogon Tuber (core removed) 4 liang, Cardamom Seeds 4 liang, Dried Tangerine Peel 4 liang.

Processing

Prepare each of the above herbs according to the prescribed methods, chop them into pieces the size of soybeans, and mix half of the herbs thoroughly with 5 jin of white sand honey; place this mixture into a copper pot;Place cinnabar in a double-layered silk bag and suspend it inside the pot. Simmer over a double boiler fueled by mulberry wood for 4 days and 4 nights. Replace the honey with 5 jin, add the remaining half of the herbs, mix thoroughly, and simmer for another 3 days and 3 nights. Remove the cinnabar, rinse it clean, and bake it dry. Place it in a mortar and grind it into a fine powder using a jade pestle. Shape the powder into rice-wrapped pills the size of mung beans and air-dry them in the shade.

Instructions for Use

Take 10 pills per dose, increasing to 15 if necessary. Take on an empty stomach before meals with ginseng decoction; jujube decoction is also acceptable. If vomiting occurs, take with a mild ginger decoction.

Note

Avoid consuming pork or mutton blood.
