Tai Su Dan,Indicated for cold stagnation with lung deficiency, phlegm-induced wheezing and shortness of breath, prolonged cough with blood in the sputum; as well as qi deficiency with susceptibility to cold, loose stools from zang-fu organ dysfunction, spleen and stomach weakness resulting in inability to retain food; chronic cold due to deficiency, sudden collapse from vomiting and diarrhea, cold syndrome in typhoid fever, and cold extremities.

Drug Formulation

1 liang of refined stalactite powder, 2 qian of genuine yangqishi (calcined over a moderate fire on a new tile until glowing red; remove from heat, allow to cool, and grind to a very fine powder).

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder, mix with the tip of a glutinous rice dumpling, and form into pills the size of a chicken’s head.

Instructions for Use

When mixing the formula, add 1 qian of white limestone; stir continuously in a large bowl until the mixture reaches 8–9 parts firmness. Air-dry, then polish with talc powder using a new piece of coarse cloth until glossy. Take 2 to 3 pills per dose on an empty stomach, washed down with ginseng decoction or aged rice drink.
