Drug Formulation

1 liang of mercury, 1 liang of mitasang, 1 liang of white alum, 1 liang of roasted salt, 1 liang of fire-processed calcium carbonate, 5 qian of real realgar, 5 qian of cinnabar, and 2 liang of Chuzhou celadon (crushed and ground to a fine powder).

Processing

First, grind the mercury and porcelain powder together until no particles remain visible. Next, add the mites and grind again. Then add the alum, salt, fire-refined lime, realgar, and cinnabar, and grind until uniform. Place the mixture in a Yangcheng jar, seal it, and let it sit for the duration of three sticks of incense. Remove the potent medicine. For the second transformation, take the previous potent medicine and add another 1 liang of mercury; grind until no particles remain visible. Then add 1 liang each of fire-refined lime, salt, and alum,5 qian of Mingxiong, and 5 qian of cinnabar; grind until uniform and set aside for later use. Then take 4 liang of mountain lead, pound it thin and cut it into small pieces, place it on the bottom of a Yangcheng jar, then place the powdered medicine on top, seal it tightly, and let it sit for the duration of three sticks of incense. Remove the elixir and use it to prepare the subsequent medicine. To prepare the medicine: for every 1 qian of the previous elixir, use 5 fen of ox bile, 5 fen of dog’s gallbladder,pearl, amber, straight silkworm pupae (roasted with glutinous rice), whole scorpions (washed in wine, heads and legs removed, roasted with glutinous rice), agarwood, Sichuan fritillary bulb, borax, cinnabar, realgar, sodium sulfate, wood fragrant, Sichuan coptis, evodia (boiled), Sichuan lovage,White Mustard Seed, and Radish Seed—each 1 qian; Croton Seed (boiled in licorice water, oil removed) 5 fen; Musk 3 fen;Soapberry 8 fen (roasted), gold and silver foil 30 sheets each, gallnut 1 piece—pierce a hole in it, fill it tightly with rhubarb powder, place it in an old clay chamber pot, seal the opening, and calcine over a fire until cool. Remove the gallnut and rhubarb, grind them into a powder, mix thoroughly with the previous herbs, decoct the juice using a small bamboo scraper, make a paste to form pills the size of radish seeds, and coat them with cinnabar.

Instructions for Use

Initial dose: 3 fen 5 li; take with a decoction made from male mouse feces. Subsequently, take only with a decoction of bamboo shoots, adding a small amount of ginger juice.
