Drug Formulation

3 liang of cinnabar, 3 liang of mercury, and 1 jin of yellow lead oxide.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients together until all traces of mercury are gone. Place the mixture in a porcelain jar, cover the opening, and seal it according to standard procedure. Initially, heat gently over a low flame; once the heat is thoroughly distributed, increase the heat to 10 jin and continue until the mixture turns completely red. After half a day, the medicine is ready.Once cooled, open the jar and remove the mixture; the surface should be white, while the interior should be purplish-gold with a brilliant luster. Grind it into a fine powder, spread it on paper laid on the ground, cover it with a basin, and allow the fire toxins to dissipate for one day. Then, form it into pills the size of mung beans using millet rice.
