Drug Formulation

5 sheng of hemp seeds (roasted), 5 sheng of adzuki beans, 2 sheng of raw pharbitis (thinly sliced), 4 liang of cimicifuga, 3 liang of aconite (roasted), and 3 liang of belamcanda.

For severe toxic conditions in sores and abscesses, with swelling of uncertain location; or for symptoms such as dry mouth, aversion to cold, stabbing pain in the chest and abdomen, or restlessness.

Instructions for Use

Boil all the herbs in 4 dou of water until reduced to 2 dou 5 sheng; strain out the residue. Grind the hemp seeds until crushed, then use the hemp seed juice to cook the adzuki beans until thoroughly soft. Strain again; this should yield 6–7 sheng. Take 1 sheng per dose, and consume the entire amount over the course of one day and one night.

Note

After taking the medicine, urination should become unimpeded; the toxin will then be eliminated and the swelling reduced. It is even more beneficial to eat these beans alongside the medicine; they will be as smooth as soup melting snow. When using hemp seeds, never use those that are shriveled or discolored; select them carefully.
