Drug Formulation

1 goose pear (Editor’s note: A “goose pear” refers to a plump, large pear), half a liang of eagle-claw Coptis.

Processing

Place the pear in a sand bottle first, then add the ground Coptis. Wait until the first snowfall of early winter, fill the bottle with snow, seal the opening with oiled paper, and bury it 5 cuns deep in the ground. Retrieve it after the “Start of Spring” (Lìchūn) has passed.
