Drug Formulation

5 qian of Angelica sinensis (soaked in wine), 5 qian of Rehmannia glutinosa (soaked in wine), 5 qian of Eucommia ulmoides, 5 qian of processed Cistanche deserticola, 5 qian of fried Astragalus membranaceus, 5 qian of Asparagus cochinchinensis (soaked in wine), 5 qian of Ophiopogon japonicus, 5 qian of Schisandra chinensis, 5 qian of Korean ginseng, 5 qian of Achyranthes bidentata (Huai variety), 5 qian of deer antler, 5 qian of sweet almonds, 5 qian of Cnidium monnieri, 5 qian of Dipsacus asper (soaked in wine), 5 qian of Clematis chinensis, 5 qian ofSalted Cuscuta 5 qian, Tiger Tibia 5 qian, Eupatorium 5 qian, Processed Cyperus 5 qian, Wine-processed Raw Rehmannia 5 qian, Processed Polygala 5 qian, Processed Pangolin Scale 5 qian, Trichosanthes Seed 5 qian, Men’s Hair (washed) 5 qian,1 pair of large geckoes (prepare the above herbs according to standard methods; chop them into small pieces; place them in a copper pot with 2 jin 4 liang of fragrant sesame oil; simmer over a mulberry-branch fire until completely charred, then remove the residue; continue simmering until a drop of the mixture forms a bead when tested with water; once cooled, add the following aromatic ingredients), 4 liang of water-floated colophony,3 qian of Dragon Bone, 3 qian of Clove Buds, 3 qian of Dangmenzi, 1 liang of water-floated Orpiment, 3 qian of Cinnabar, 3 qian of processed Frankincense, 3 qian of processed Myrrh, 5 qian of Shaken Cinnamon, 3 qian of Wa Huang, 3 qian of Agarwood, 3 qian of Japanese Sulfur, 3 qian of Da Tugao, 3 qian of Wood Fragrance, 3 qian of Toad Venom, 3 qian of Yangqishi.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into an extremely fine powder. Stir continuously with mulberry, locust, and willow twigs until well blended. Place the mixture in a porcelain jar and soak it in well water or rainwater for 7 days and nights until all residual heat has dissipated; only then is it ready for use. Cut the calcined paste into red squares, each weighing 3 qian; double the dose for cases of debility.

Instructions for Use

When applying the ointment, it is best to use a copper vessel or porcelain cup to dissolve glutinous rice paste in boiling water until smooth. Apply to the navel or the Mingmen point; change the application every 7–10 days.
