Drug Formulation

Half a liang of exposed bee hive, half a liang of snake shed skin, half a liang of Scrophularia root, half a liang of Astragalus root (chopped), 1 fen of Cnidium monnieri, 1 liang of apricot kernels (soaked in hot water to remove skin and tips, then finely ground), half a liang of tangled hair, 5 liang of yellow丹, and 1 liang of beeswax.

Processing

Grind all the ingredients—except for the yellow丹, beeswax, apricot kernels, and human hair—into a coarse powder, wrap it in cotton, and soak it in oil 2–3 times overnight.In a separate pot, use half a jin of oil; add the apricot kernels and human hair and simmer until the hair is completely dissolved. Then add the remaining herbs and simmer together for about 10 boils. Strain through cheesecloth, return the mixture to the pot, and add the yellow丹 and beeswax. Simmer for another 6–7 boils, stirring vigorously with a willow whisk until uniform. When a drop placed in water does not disperse but forms a bead, pour the mixture into a porcelain container.

Instructions for Use

Apply a layer to a piece of silk and affix it to the affected area, changing it once daily until healed.
