Drug Formulation

1 set of sika deer placenta, 3 liang of Qi-style mugwort, 2 liang of Cyperus rotundus, 1 liang of Chuanxiong, 1.5 liang of Angelica sinensis, 1 liang of Paeonia lactiflora, 5 qian of charred ginger, 3 qian of safflower, 4 liang of prepared Rehmannia glutinosa, 5 qian of Evodia rutaecarpa, 5 qian of cinnamon bark,5 qian of Nanmu, 5 qian of Scutellaria baicalensis, 5 qian of Sichuan Achyranthes, 5 qian of Corydalis, 1 liang of Eucommia, 1 liang of Sichuan Dipsacus, 5 qian of Moutan, and 5 qian of Salvia miltiorrhiza.

Processing

Decoct the above herbs in water until it boils vigorously several times, strain out the residue, then decoct again in fresh water until it boils vigorously several times. Repeat this process 4–5 times, clarify the liquid, and then simmer it down to a paste. Add several jugs of Yuanjiu liquor and continue refining until a thick paste is formed.
