Drug Formulation

Cinnabar 2 qian, imported sulfur 2 qian, Asparagus root (core removed) 2 qian, Ophiopogon root (core removed) 2 qian, Prepared Rehmannia root (soaked in wine) 2 qian, Cuscuta seed (soaked in wine) 2 qian, Wood Fragrance (roasted with butter) 2 qian,Cistanche (soaked in wine) 2 qian, Myrrh (ground separately) 2 qian, Zixiaohua 2 qian, Apricot Kernels (peeled and de-tipped, ground separately) 2 qian, Deer Antler 2 qian, Tiger Bone (raw) 2 qian,Achyranthes Root (soaked in wine) 2 qian, Yangqishi 2 qian, Polygala Root (without core) 2 qian, Sichuan Dipsacus Root 2 qian, Cnidium Fruit 2 qian, Eupatorium Herb 2 qian, Dragon Bone (calcined) 2 qian, Aconite Root 1 piece (processed, with skin and navel removed), Frankincense 5 qian (ground separately), Toad Venom (ground separately) 1 qian,Musk (ground separately) 1 qian, Realgar 4 qian (ground separately), Raw Rehmannia 2 qian, Agarwood 2 qian, Clove buds 2 qian, Cassia bark 3 qian (ground separately), Licorice 3 qian, Rosin (pure) 3 liang (ground separately), Trichosanthes seed 1 liang (shell removed, ground).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a powder, excluding licorice, apricot kernels, Trichosanthes seed, and cassia bark. In a sandpot, simmer with 6 jin 4 liang of water over mulberry wood fire until reduced to 1 bowl; strain to remove residues. Add the ground rosin, 2 liang of sesame oil, and 1 liang of Bletilla powder to the sandpot and melt until it boils several times. Then add the remaining powdered herbs and stir continuously with branches of locust, willow, and mulberry until it forms a paste, reaching a thick and sticky consistency.

Instructions for Use

To use, cut a piece of crimson silk into a square and spread the ointment gradually in a thick layer, about the size of a small bowl, then apply it to the navel and lower back.
