Drug Formulation

Half a liang of cloves (ground separately into a powder), half a liang of musk (finely ground), 10 liang of wild camel fat, 20 liang of lard from a pig slaughtered in the 12th lunar month, half a liang of notopterygium, half a liang of ligusticum,1 liang of Trichosanthes seed (shell removed), half a liang of Fangfeng (root tip removed), 1 liang of Trichosanthes root, 1 liang of Aconite root (skin and navel removed, used raw), half a liang of Asarum, and half a liang of Achyranthes root (stems removed).

Processing

Finely chop the above ingredients, mix thoroughly with 2 sheng of rice vinegar, and let stand for three nights. Place the mixture in a wok and stir-fry until slightly dry. Add the wild camel fat and lard, then simmer over low heat. When the mixture turns a scorched yellow color, remove from heat. Filter through cotton to remove the residue. Finally, add cloves and musk, stir until evenly mixed, and store in a porcelain jar.
