Drug Formulation

Coptis (chopped into bean-sized pieces, soaked in a child’s urine overnight, sun-dried, and ground into a fine powder) 1 liang,Orpiment (water-floated) 3 liang, Angelica sinensis (washed with wine) 2 qian, Musk 5 fen, Frankincense 5 fen, Mercury oxide 1 qian, Arsenic trioxide 1 qian, White clove 1 qian, Borneol 1 qian, Cuttlefish bone (all ground separately into a fine powder) 1 qian, Zinc oxide (decocted in 1 liang of Coptis chinensis water, quenched 7 times, then ground into a fine powder) 6 liang.

Processing

First, take 10 liang of high-quality white honey and boil it for 5–7 boils. Use clean paper to skim off the wax layer. Add all the remaining herbs except for the yellow lead oxide, then stir well with a willow wood spoon. Next, add the yellow lead oxide and stir again. Continue stirring over low heat until the mixture turns purple. Then, mix the frankincense, musk, mercury oxide, and realgar evenly into the mixture until it no longer sticks to your hands.
