Drug Formulation

1 liang of White Impatiens, 1 liang of lilac root, 1 liang of Angelica sinensis soaked in wine, 1 liang of natural copper calcined with vinegar, 1 liang of blood-gum from the melon fruit, 1 liang of myrrh, 8 qian of Sichuan lovage, 2 liang of red peony root, 1 piece (half a liang) of vinegar-quenched copper, 1 liang of safflower,Chuan Niuxi 5 qian, Acanthopanax Bark 5 qian, Acorus Tatarinowii 5 qian, Atractylodes Lancea 5 qian, Wood Fragrance 3 qian, Gentiana Macrophylla 3 qian, Cnidium Monnieri 3 qian, Chuan Fuzi 3 qian, Cinnamon Bark 3 qian, Pinellia 3 qian, Dendrobium 3 qian, Smilax Glabra 3 qian, Deer Antler 3 qian, Tiger Bone 1 pair (or substitute with tiger bone glue), Musk 1 qian.

Simmer in 10 jin of sesame oil until reduced; strain through a sieve, then stir in the fine powder.

Instructions for Use

For cases involving swelling and pain, first apply a poultice made by pounding Lilac root, Chuanxiong, Danggui, White Peony root, Cassia bark, Safflower, Cimicifuga, Fangfeng, Galanga, Musk, and scallion bulbs; cover with vinegar-soaked paper, apply heat with an iron, and then apply the ointment.If stasis is present during dressing changes, use Chinese castor bean, safflower, monkey ginger, pinellia, licorice, and scallion bulbs; decoct in vinegar for washing, then apply the ointment. Change the dressing every 3 days.
