Drug Formulation

Atractylodes lancea 8 liang (soaked in rice wash, then stir-fried with aged wall soil), Pinellia ternata (processed with ginger juice) 4 liang, Bupleurum chinense 4 liang, Scutellaria baicalensis 4 liang, Magnolia officinalis (stir-fried with ginger juice) 4 liang, Citrus reticulata peel 4 liang, Fructus Aurantii (stir-fried) 4 liang, Notopterygium incisum 4 liang, Perilla frutescens leaf 4 liang, Akebia trifoliata 4 liang, Crataegus pinnatifida (stir-fried) 6 liang, Raphanus sativus seed (stir-fried) 6 liang.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder. Decoct fresh lotus leaves to make a decoction, mix the powder with the decoction, and sun-dry the mixture. Add 6 liang of Shenqu, mix into a paste, and form into pills weighing 3 qian each. Separately, grind 5 qian of cinnabar and 1 liang of realgar into a fine powder to serve as a coating.

Instructions for Use

Dosage: 1 pill for adults; half a pill for children, pregnant women, and those suffering from hemoptysis or debility. For headache and chills and fever, take with scallion and ginger decoction; for cough, phlegm, and wheezing, take with ginger juice decoction; for heatstroke, take with elsholtzia and mung bean decoction; for malaria, take with ginger juice;for red or white dysentery, take with a decoction of Wood Fragrance and Areca Nut; for cholera with vomiting and diarrhea, take with a decoction of Agastache and Amomum; for abdominal pain and watery diarrhea, take with a decoction of Red Peony Root and Plantain Seed; for bloating and fullness, take with a decoction of Dried Tangerine Peel and Wood Fragrance; for traveler’s diarrhea, take with a decoction of Guang Agastache;For mountain mists, miasma, poisonous insects, or intestinal parasites, take with a decoction of areca nut; for conditions of unknown etiology, take with plain boiling water.

Note

After taking the medicine, avoid raw, cold, and starchy foods.
