Benefits

In the early stages of summer heat illness in children, symptoms include diarrhea, thirst, fever—with the forehead, chest, and abdomen being particularly hot—and intermittent fever that subsides only to return shortly thereafter. The child is restless and agitated, unable to sit or lie still comfortably; urine is scant and reddish; stool color fluctuates between yellow, black, and red; the skin feels scorching to the touch; the child craves cold drinks; the radial pulse is red; and the tongue coating is white.

Instructions for Use

Simmer the ingredients briefly until the liquid has boiled down several times, then serve cold. Serving it hot will actually worsen diarrhea. For a 2-year-old child, administer the formula as written; for children under 2 years old, divide two doses into three; for those over 2 years old, combine three doses into two. Regardless of the child’s physical strength, follow this dosage schedule; for adults, combine two doses into one. This formula does not cause coldness in the stomach, so it is suitable even for those with weak constitutions.
