Drug Formulation

1 white-flowered snake head (soaked in wine for 3 days, then baked dry), 1 black snake head (soaked in wine for 3 days, then baked dry), 2 red-footed centipedes (soaked in wine for 3 days, then roasted), 1 aconite root (weighing 6 qian; processed, with skin and navel removed), and the flesh from the back of a white-flowered snake’s neck(take 2 liang from 7 cun behind the neck, soak in wine for 3 days, remove skin and bones, and dry in an oven) 7 qian,cinnabar 6 qian (grind separately; add 2 qian to the mixture, reserve 4 qian as a coating), white silkworm pupae half liang (straight ones, stir-fried, with silk threads and mouthparts removed), 1 male sparrow (plucked, with anus and intestines removed; fill with 1 qian of cinnabar, seal with mud, sun-dry, then calcine over alternating high and low heat until blue smoke emerges; grind into a separate powder), whole scorpion (detoxified, stir-fried) half liang,Gastrodia (stem removed) half liang, Pinellia (processed) half liang, Ginseng (root tip removed) half liang, Agarwood half liang, Five-Spirit Fat 8 qian (roasted, ground separately), Ligusticum 1 qian, Borneol (ground separately) 1 qian, Frankincense (ground separately) 1 qian, Myrrh (ground separately) 1 qian,ox bile (ground separately) 1 qian, dragon’s blood 1 qian, musk (ground separately) 1 qian.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, add the separately ground camphor and other powders, and mix thoroughly. Use high-quality, ash-free liquor to form pills; make 15 pills per liang, and coat them with cinnabar.
