Drug Formulation

1 qian of Coptis, 1 qian of Sophora flavescens, half a liang of blackfish bone, half a liang of Euphorbia seeds (husked), half a liang of Gentiana scabra, half a liang of white cloves, and half a liang of oyster shell.

Processing

Boil the above ingredients in 3 sheng of water until reduced to half a sheng, then strain out the residue. Add 4 liang of white sand honey and boil again until thickened. Add half a qian each of mercury oxide, copper green, and borneol; and 2 qian each of horse-tooth ointment, realgar, phoenix sand, and frankincense. Grind these seven ingredients into a fine powder, mix them evenly, and incorporate them into the ointment. Store in a porcelain jar.

Instructions for Use

Apply 3–5 chopsticks’ worth per eye.
