Drug Formulation

3 qian of Ziheche (sun-dried), 3 qian of white plum blossoms, 1 liang of cinnabar (boil with 1 liang of licorice root in water for half a day, then remove the licorice root), 6 liang of talc (decoct with 2 liang of Moutan bark in water; remove the bark and continue boiling until the liquid is completely evaporated), 1 liang of Cyperus rhizome (thoroughly boiled in honey water), 2 qian of Glycyrrhiza root, 4 qian of Atractylodes, 3 qian of Curcuma (calcined),Amomum villosum (peeled) 3 qian, Amomum villosum (shelled) 6 qian, Dioscorea opposita (stir-fried with ginger juice) 2.5 qian, Panax ginseng (root tip removed) 1 qian, Astragalus membranaceus (honey-fried) 1 qian,3 qian of Poria cocos, 2.5 qian of Poria sclerotium (peeled and woody parts removed), 1.5 qian of Polygala tenuifolia (soaked in licorice decoction, core removed), 1 qian of Platycodon grandiflorus (root tip removed), 1 qian of Aquilaria agallocha, 3 fen of musk, 2 fen of ox bile, 1 qian of Curcuma zedoaria (one formula omits Hun Yuan Yi and plum blossoms).

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of a longan, and coat them with gold leaf.

Benefits

Indicated for stroke with phlegm-induced syncope, typhoid fever with fever, and cholera with vomiting and diarrhea; indigestion and food stagnation; convulsions and spasms; and heat from smallpox or malnutrition.

Instructions for Use

Adjust the dosage according to the patient’s condition. For stroke with phlegm-induced syncope and loss of consciousness, grind the pills with ginger decoction and administer; for typhoid fever complicated by convulsions, grind the pills with ginger and scallion decoction and administer—inducing sweating is recommended; for indigestion with vomiting and abdominal distension, accompanied by sour-smelling stools, take with ginger decoction; for cholera, take with Perilla and papaya decoction; for diarrhea, take with rice water;for red-and-white dysentery, take it with unhusked rice broth; for coughing and shortness of breath, take it with ephedra and apricot kernel broth;Abdominal pain due to food stagnation: take with ginger decoction; pain caused by intestinal parasites: take with Chinese toon root decoction; hernia with lateral displacement: take with major and minor anise decoction; incessant night crying: take with lampwick ash decoction; acute convulsions with spasms: take with peppermint decoction; chronic convulsions: take with ginseng and white atractylodes decoction; bloody stools: take with sophora flower and Chen Cang rice decoction;Difficulty urinating: take with Plantain Seed Decoction; night sweats: take with Floating Wheat Decoction; fever: take with Coin-Shaped Mint Decoction; delayed eruption of smallpox: take with Cimicifuga Decoction; heatstroke with restlessness and thirst: take with Lampwick Decoction; malnutrition with fever, emaciation, distended abdomen, thin hands and feet, accompanied by dysuria, diarrhea, swelling, bloating, wheezing, or cough: take with Chen Cang Rice Decoction.
