Drug Formulation

Maggots (Collect over 100 chi of toads in the summer months; those collected around the Dragon Boat Festival are even better. Remove the head, legs, intestines, stomach, skin, and bones, and set them aside.First, fry the meat in fragrant oil until cooked and feed it to the child. Next, place the skin, bones, intestines, and stomach in a bowl, set it in direct sunlight, cover it with a fine sieve, and allow flies to burrow in and breed maggots until they have completely consumed the meat on the bones. Then, collect the maggots, wash them thoroughly, and stir-fry them until dry. Wrap them in heavy paper and roast them over a charcoal fire until charred but still retaining their properties, then grind into a powder. 1 liang of this powder,2 liang of Coptis chinensis, 4 liang of hawthorn pulp (seeds removed and cleaned), 2 liang of genuine aloe vera, 2 liang of amomum, 1 liang of green tangerine peel (white pith removed, fried with wheat bran), 1 liang of wild fennel, 2 liang of areca nut, 1 liang of mugwort heart powder, and 5 qian of western wood fragrant.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder, sifting out any impurities to yield 1 jin. Separately, prepare 10 jin of aged wheat flour, 2 jin of granulated sugar, and 1 jin of molasses. Mix the medicinal powder, flour, and sugars thoroughly, then shape into cakes, each weighing 1 liang.
