Processing

Among the above ingredients, Frankincense must be melted to remove the oil; the rest should be sun-dried and ground raw. Grind each into an extremely fine powder. Use the base paste from Jiang Yanzetang’s Taiyi Plaster in Shanghai, warmed over a fire, to melt the base. Mix the herbal powders evenly into the paste. For the paper used to spread the paste, use two layers of cotton-coated oil paper and white paper laminated together; for larger applications, spread it on red cloth.

Benefits

For boils, abscesses, back sores, wandering sores, all types of unexplained swellings and toxic lesions, as well as wind-heat-induced swelling.

Instructions for Use

When applied at the onset of a sore before it has fully formed, this ointment can disperse the swelling; however, it must be applied all the way around to the base—applying it only to the surface will render it ineffective. Even for ulcers that have already ruptured, applying this ointment can help constrict the wound and prevent further spread. The formula includes both Cassia and Cinnamon; Cassia is used because Cinnamon is expensive, not because it is a primary ingredient.
