Processing

Except for Rehmannia and Cuscuta, which should be soaked in wine in a separate container, the remaining five ingredients should be finely chopped together and placed in a bowl or porcelain jar. If each ingredient weighs 10 liang, use 6 sheng of first-grade, ash-free, strong wine to soak them together for three nights. Remove them, roast over alternating high and low heat until dry. Carefully monitor the heat to ensure it is just right; do not use too high a flame, lest it damage the medicinal properties. Once thoroughly dried, pound and sift into a fine powder. Mix thoroughly with both hands until completely uniform, then combine with refined honey to form pills the size of a Paulownia seed.To prepare the honey: boil each batch five times; in summer, boil six or seven times. Allow to cool, then use a piece of paper to skim off the foam. After forming the pills, roast them all over a very low heat; after a short while, transfer them to a jar for storage.

Benefits

Blurred vision, forgetfulness.

Instructions for Use

Take 30 pills per dose on an empty stomach, washed down with salted wine; increasing the dose to 40–50 pills is also acceptable. If you do not drink alcohol, salted broth may be used instead, though it is not as effective as wine. Take this regularly as part of your daily regimen; do not skip a day. Ensure that preparation and washing are carried out with utmost cleanliness, and that every ingredient is of the correct quality; do not proceed carelessly.
