Chinese Name : 一醉乌

Drug Formulation

10 Haritaki fruits (drilled through both ends), 1 sheng of raw Rehmannia root juice, 1 liang of calcined gypsum (pounded into powder), half a liang of green alum (finely ground), 3 sour pomegranates (large ones; extract the juice), 1 fen of borax (finely ground), and 1 fen of sulfur (finely ground).

Processing

Place all the ingredients in a porcelain jar, soak them in the two juices, seal the jar tightly to prevent air from entering, and leave for 49 days. When removed, the chebulic myrobalan will resemble black plums.

Instructions for Use

At night before bed, hold one in your mouth and swallow the juices; by dawn, chew it until it is pulpy, then wash it down with one medium bowl of wine. After a while, drink another one liang bowl of wine until you are drunk. Your beard and hair will turn black on their own after 3–2 days; repeat the treatment after another 3–2 days.

Note

Avoid raw scallions, radishes, garlic, and similar foods.
