Drug Formulation

30–60 g of Artemisia capillaris, 50–100 g of japonica rice, and an appropriate amount of white sugar.

Instructions for Use

First, wash the Artemisia capillaris thoroughly, decoct to extract the juice, and strain out the residue. Add the japonica rice and an appropriate amount of water, then cook into porridge. When nearly done, add white sugar and simmer for another 1–2 boils before serving. The recommended treatment course is 7–10 days, with 2–3 servings per day. The porridge should be thin rather than thick; use only japonica rice, not glutinous rice.

Note

This porridge is suitable for both “yin-type jaundice” and “yang-type jaundice,” but should not be consumed by patients with “jaundice and obesity syndrome” caused by hookworm infection.
