Processing

Except for the 8 fine ingredients (including aromatic substances) and the Da Fu Rong, soak the coarse ingredients in Yin-Yang water overnight, then dry them in the sun the next day. Grind them into an extremely fine powder. Add the fine ingredients and grind them together until well blended. Then, combine musk, Western cow bile, suhe oil, and water-processed benzoin, along with an additional 4 liang of Liu Shen Qu, and mix thoroughly with a paste made from Da Fu Rong and water. Add 1 jin of refined white honey,and form into pills. Each pill weighs 1 qian and 5 fen when moist and 1 qian when sun-dried. Place them in a lime-lined jar to dry thoroughly, then seal the jar tightly with wax.

Instructions for Use

Take 1 pill per dose; dissolve it in hot water and administer slowly. This will immediately restore consciousness; taking another pill will lead to a full recovery. Alternatively, dissolve the pill in a decoction made from 3 qian of lotus leaf and take it that way. For children with suppressed smallpox, extract the juice from fine-leaved Acorus calamus, mix it with hot water, and dissolve half a pill in it;For children with measles that fail to break out, use 5 qian of Xihe willow, decoct it, and dissolve one pill in the decoction; if the rash has not broken out, administer another pill. For stasis-related measles, use half a pill for mild cases and 1–2 pills for severe cases; for acute convulsions in children—manifesting as fever, vomiting of milk, palpitations, convulsions, and green stools—use 1 qian of Gou Teng, decoct it for several boils, strain out the residue, and, depending on the child’s size, dissolve half a pill or one pill in the decoction;divided into four doses; for a newborn experiencing fetal shock within the first month of life and refusing to nurse, take one pill, divide it into one of four equal portions, grind it into an extremely fine powder, apply it to the nipple, and allow the infant to ingest it while nursing; for phlegm-induced syncope with loss of consciousness, use 0.5 fen of Chen Danxing, dissolve one pill in boiling water, and administer; for liver-qi reversal causing syncope and loss of consciousness, use 2 liang of raw Shijue Ming, decoct into a decoction, and dissolve one pill in it;For typhoid fever, epidemic fever, or warm plague—manifesting as alternating chills and fever, headache, chest tightness, and body aches—during the first 1–2 stages, if the fever persists and the patient is delirious and rambling, dissolve one pill in boiling water and administer; if the fever has not fully subsided, administer another pill;For boils and abscesses on the back, brain abscesses, carbuncles, and all types of unexplained swellings and toxic sores: apply externally by pounding 1 liang of Achyranthes root to extract its juice, mixing it with half a pill of the medicine to form a poultice. Additionally, take 3 qian of raw licorice decocted in boiling water and dissolve one pill in the decoction for oral administration; for severe cases, take one pill; for mild cases, take half a pill. If the condition has not yet fully developed, it will dissipate; if it has already developed, it will ulcerate.
