Processing

First, melt the lead into a liquid; then add the mercury, stirring vigorously to ensure uniformity. Next, add the remaining ingredients to neutralize the lead. Finely grind the four ingredients listed below together, then gradually add them drop by drop to the lead solution while stirring thoroughly. Simultaneously, neutralize the lead into ash on one side of the pot. Wait until all the lead has been neutralized, then pour the mercury into a porcelain bowl; stop as soon as the weight of the mercury reaches 1 liang.Place 1 liang and a half of sulfur in the rear cabinet, grind it finely until it resembles flour, and place it in a bottle. Cover the bowl with the bottle, and gradually apply heat until a ghostly flame appears; stop immediately.Allow it to cool, then grind it finely to form a “cabinet.” Place this cabinet into a small container, arrange objects inside to create a depression at the center. Take 1 liang of mercury from the lead mixture, add 1 fen of sulfur, and grind them together until they form a granular substance. Place this into the inner cabinet, cover it tightly with a tea bowl, and secure it until dry. Maintain a constant heat of 2 liang beneath the crucible, and cover the crucible with grass ash to ensure the fire does not go out.Continue this process for 7 days. Gradually increase the heat until the mixture glows red; at this point, the medicine is complete. Allow it to cool, then remove it, line a damp surface with paper, and spread it out. Cover it with a basin for one cycle to remove the fire toxicity. Grind it finely until it resembles flour, then form it into pills the size of millet grains using date pulp.
