Chinese Name : 猪肝散

Drug Formulation

1 set of pork liver (do not use iron utensils; split open with a bamboo knife and wash thoroughly with rice-washing water), 5 qian of Atractylodes lancea (soaked in rice-washing water for one day and one night, sliced, sun-dried, and ground into powder), 3 qian of Atractylodes macrocephala (ground into powder), and 2 qian of oyster shell (calcined).

Processing

Combine the three ingredients, melt 5 qian of beeswax in them, mix the powdered medicine into the pig liver, stir well, pour into a piece of blue cloth, wrap it up, and step on it with both feet until it cools and hardens; then remove it and grind it into a powder.

Instructions for Use

Take 3 qian of the mixture each time, place it inside a pig’s liver, wrap it in fresh cloth, and cook it in a clay pot with rice-washing water before consuming. Another formula uses equal parts of Atractylodes lancea, Atractylodes macrocephala, Gardenia, Coptis, and safflower seeds; grind them into a powder, place it inside a pig’s liver, and cook as described above before consuming.
