Drug Formulation

Atractylodes macrocephala, Polygonum cuspidatum (soil removed), Atractylodes lancea (peel removed), and licorice (roasted)—each in equal parts.

Processing

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of a marble. For each dose, take 1 pill; spread 1 zhan of black beans evenly in a pot, place the pill in the center of the beans, add water until it is about one finger’s width above the beans, and simmer over low heat until the water has evaporated. Remove the beans, dry them in the sun, and store them in a silk bag.

Instructions for Use

Take 20 pills per dose, washed down with fresh water. In areas affected by malaria, take one dose on an empty stomach; if traveling long distances and feeling hungry, take 50–100 pills with fresh water to alleviate hunger and weakness.
