Instructions for Use

Take 1 qian bi per dose, decoct in water, and take as directed; take one dose for every 10 li traveled. To treat this disease, one must first select a well-sealed room that is draft-free before taking this medicine. Once the medicine is taken, someone must constantly watch over the patient, as those with an impatient temperament may find the turbid saliva between their teeth hindering eating and drinking, or may find the unbearable pain throughout their body so intolerable that they might harm themselves.Treatment of this disease must be undertaken between September and February. If, after 35 days of treatment, there is no headache and no signs of improvement, the condition cannot be cured. If, after taking this medicine, a headache occurs followed by pain throughout the body, this is a sure sign of recovery; if saliva oozes from between the teeth, causing the teeth to become loose, the patient must consume porridge and avoid hard foods. If saliva oozes, the disease will recede starting from the little toe and gradually spread to the entire body.If saliva flows as described, constipation will inevitably occur; in such cases, take medications such as rhubarb to relieve it. If one dose of the tonic has been fully consumed, it is safe to take another dose.
