Drug Formulation

Atractylodes lancea 8 liang, Aconitum carmichaeli 8 liang, scallion bulbs 8 liang, aged ginger 8 liang, Notopterygium incisum 1 liang, Gentiana macrophylla 1 liang, Ligusticum chuanxiong 1 liang, Angelica dahurica 1 liang, Ephedra sinica 1 liang, raw Aconitum carmichaeli 1 liang.

Processing

Pound the first four ingredients together into a paste, place in a clay jar, seal tightly, and bury in the ground—for 7 days in winter and 3 days in summer. Remove and dry in the sun, then add the remaining six ingredients. Grind all ingredients into a fine powder, mix thoroughly, and form into pills the size of mung beans using a wine paste.

Instructions for Use

Take 8–9 fen or 1 qian per dose, washed down with wine. Avoid drafts and induce sweating until relief is achieved. May also be applied as a poultice.
