Instructions for Use

Chop both ingredients finely with a bamboo knife, place them in a porcelain pot, add water until it reaches the height of the back of one hand above the herbs, and simmer over alternating low and medium heat. When preparing any ointment, the key is to use a gentle, steady heat—neither too fast nor too slow—to prevent burning or boiling over. Store the ointment in a clean porcelain jar and steam it over a rice pot once every 3–4 days to prevent a white film from forming. When taking the decoction, adjust the dosage according to your own condition. If you feel that your qi has been depleted due to verbal disputes, anger, or physical exertion—manifesting as low energy and disjointed speech—take ginseng decoction; if you feel disharmony in the spleen and stomach, with food tasting bland, take Atractylodes decoction; or if you suffer from blood deficiency causing sores and ulcers, dry and itchy skin, spontaneous sweating, or nocturnal emissions, take Angelica decoction frequently. Alternate between these two preparations as needed. If you find the taste too bitter, add 1–2 spoonfuls of refined honey.
