Chinese Name : 丹砂沉香煎

Drug Formulation

1 liang of agarwood (ground into a powder; simmer with half a jin of honey until it boils 5–7 times), 1 fen of asafoetida (ground finely; simmer in half a sheng of wine in a silver vessel until completely reduced), 1 liang of myrrh (ground into a powder; simmer in half a sheng of wine over low heat until completely reduced),Castor bean 1 qian (peeled, ground to a fine powder, simmered with half a sheng of wine for over 10 boils), realgar 1 liang (ground with half a sheng of wine until completely dissolved; combine the above five ingredients and simmer over low heat until a paste forms), cinnabar half a liang (finely ground), sulfur 1 liang (ground with snowmelt for one day), areca nut 1 liang,1 liang of Frankincense, 1 liang of Ginseng, 1 liang of Black Pepper, half a liang of Cloves, 3 fen of Dried Ginger, 1 liang of Green Tangerine Peel, 1 liang of Galangal (boiled in water for 5–7 boils), and 1 liang of Cinnamon.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; add cinnabar and sulfur, then grind again until uniform. Use the previous paste to form pills the size of a paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use

Take 2–3 pills at a time, washed down with warm tangerine peel decoction; for heart pain, chew the pills until broken up and swallow them with warm wine, regardless of the time of day; for women’s blood and qi-related pain, take them with Angelica sinensis wine.
