Drug Formulation

Cinnabar, Croton Seed (remove skin and core; boil in lye for half a day; grind separately into a paste), and Euphorbia (ground into powder; stir-fried until yellowish-black), and Realgar—each in equal parts.

Grind the ingredients into a fine powder and mix with refined honey to form pills.

Benefits

For infants and young children with hard, distended abdominal masses after feeding; high fever with convulsive crying; failure to gain weight despite breastfeeding; indigestion; diarrhea; and wasting of flesh and bone.

Instructions for Use

Take 2 pills per dose, three times a day. For a one-month-old infant, the dose should be the size of a millet seed; for infants over 50 days old, the size of a foxtail millet seed. As the child grows slightly older, increase the dose as appropriate. After three days of treatment, closely observe the child’s bowel movements: if the illness has not fully resolved, the medicine will be expelled; if the illness is cured and the medicine is expelled in its entirety, discontinue treatment. If the medicine is not expelled, increase the dose; for robust children, increase the dose accordingly.

Note

Nursing mothers should avoid pork and fish.
