Drug Formulation

4 liang of refined copper shavings, 2 liang of cinnabar, 1 liang of sodium carbonate, and 2 liang of sulfur.

Processing

Grind the three ingredients—cinnabar, sodium carbonate, and sulfur—together into a fine powder. Take a copper bucket and layer it with a single layer of copper shavings, followed by a layer of the powder; continue layering until all ingredients are used up. Seal the bucket with “Liu Yi” clay, allow it to dry, then place it in an ash pit. Apply 4 liang of fire,for one fu period. Then burn it over a high flame until it glows red; allow it to cool before removing it. Place it on damp ground for one fu period to remove the fire toxicity, then grind it into a fine powder. Form it into pills the size of mung beans using millet rice.

Instructions for Use

Take 7 pills per dose on an empty stomach, washed down with warm wine.

Note

Avoid sheep’s blood.
