Drug Formulation
2 liang of Trichosanthes seed (freshly roasted, pounded), 2 liang of raw hematite (finely ground), 6 qian of Perilla seed (roasted, pounded), 4 qian of sodium carbonate (dissolved in water and taken orally).

Benefits
For cold-heat chest obstruction, where phlegm-fluid in the chest and diaphragm combines with exogenous pathogenic factors to form a congealed mass—obstructing the throat above and stagnating the stomach below—resulting in labored breathing, a sensation of fullness and oppression, shortness of breath, and an inability to swallow water, which may be regurgitated.
Instructions for Use
Prepare the above herbs with 4 zhong of water, decoct until 2 zhong of clear liquid remains. First, take 1 zhong while warm; once the chest obstruction resolves and bowel movements resume, discontinue further doses. If the chest obstruction has not yet resolved, wait 2 zhong and take another 1 zhong while warm. If the chest obstruction has resolved but bowel movements have not yet resumed, and no flatulence is felt, take another half zhong while warm.
