Drug Formulation
30g Sichuan Atractylodes, 30g Phellodendron, 30g Han Stephania, 30g Xuan Mu Guo, 30g Corydalis,Curcuma 30g, Raw Rehmannia and Ulmus 30g, Bletilla 60g (sliced), Borneol (added after cooling) 240g, Raw Gypsum 240g, Zinc Oxide 240g (prepared separately; subsequently calcined, ground into powder, and sifted through a 100-mesh sieve), Sesame Oil 2 jin.

Instructions for Use
(1) Steeping: Soak Atractylodes lancea, Phellodendron bark, Stephania root, Carica papaya, Corydalis tuber, Curcuma rhizome, raw Sanguisorba root, and Bletilla rhizome in sesame oil for 24 hours.(2) Decoction: Place the aforementioned oil and herbs in a container (typically a copper pot, though a stainless steel pot may also be used) and simmer over low heat for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours (until the volume is reduced to 200 milliliters), until the herbs turn dry and yellow. Remove the herbal residue and filter (using silk gauze or a copper sieve) until all residue is completely removed.(3) Refining the Oil: Heat the filtered oil over a flame for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, until a drop of oil added to water forms a bead.(4) Forming the Ointment: While the refined oil is still hot, add calcined gypsum and fine zinc oxide powder (taking care to prevent clumping or settling at the bottom of the pot), stirring continuously as you add the ingredients. After adding all ingredients, continue heating to maintain a gentle simmer; at this point, there should be no floating oil on the surface or only a very small amount. Heat for approximately 2–2.5 hours, then remove a small amount to cool. If it has formed a semi-solid ointment, turn off the heat.Once the ointment has cooled, add borneol and stir until evenly mixed. (5) Apply Dongfang No. 1 evenly onto translucent ointment paper, cut into small pieces, and apply to the affected area. Cover with gauze. Change the dressing every other day initially; thereafter, change it every 2–3 days.
