Drug Formulation
Processed powdered arsenic trioxide 5 qian, genuine asafoetida 5 qian, locust flowers 3 qian, angelica root tips 1 qian, white angelica root 1 qian, small cloves 1 qian, frankincense 1 qian (with oil), myrrh 1 qian (with oil), real orpiment 1 qian, cinnabar 1 qian, ox bile 5 fen, borneol 3 fen, processed arsenic trioxide 1 fen.

Mix all the above ingredients with a paste made from aged rice to form pills the size of millet seeds.

Instructions for Use
Begin by taking 4 pills daily; after 10 days, increase to 5 pills; after 20 days, increase to 7 pills—do not exceed this amount. Use 4 liang of Smilax glabra, 1 piece of pig’s-tooth soapberry, 2 bowls of river water, and 2 bowls of well water. Simmer until reduced to 3 bowls. Each morning, take 1 bowl to wash down the pills; reserve the remaining 2 bowls to drink as tea at noon and in the evening.However, one must consider the patient’s constitution—whether deficient or excess. Those with a deficient constitution will inevitably experience chills, fever, headache, sore throat, and bad breath upon taking this formula; there is no need to be alarmed. Simply pause the treatment for 2–3 days before resuming.
