Drug Formulation

1 qian of Clematis root, 1 qian of cicada slough, 3 qian of raw rhubarb, 2 qian of ephedra, and 0.5 fen of licorice nodes.

In the early stages of syphilis, the patient experiences pain in the muscles and bones throughout the body, alternating chills and fever, and dizziness and blurred vision.

Instructions for Use

Prepare 1 jin of lean mutton and 5 bowls of water. Simmer the meat until tender; have the patient consume all the meat. Then, use 2 bowls of the meat broth to decoct 6 fen of the herbal formula, strain out the residue, and drink while warm. Cover the patient with a blanket to induce a profuse, foul-smelling sweat, which will expel the toxic stool; if the patient has dysentery, no tonic treatment is needed—simply expel all the toxic qi.

Note

The patient must not leave the room for 7 days and must not be exposed to drafts.
