Drug Formulation

Akebia stem (chopped) 2 liang, Platycodon root (chopped, stir-fried) 2 liang, Areca nut 2 liang, Trifoliate orange peel (pulp removed, stir-fried with wheat bran) 1.5 liang, Rhinoceros horn (chipped) 1.5 liang, Bupleurum root (stems removed) 2 liang, Cimicifuga root 2 liang, Frankincense 2 liang, Red Poria (black skin removed) 2 liang,Mulberry Root Bark (chopped) 4 liang, Gardenia Seed 4 liang, Cinnamon Bark (with coarse bark removed) 2 liang, Ginseng 2 liang, Schisandra Fruit 5 liang, Sodium Carbonate (ground) 1 jin, Cinnabar (ground) 1 liang, Musk (ground) 1 fen, Terminalia Chebula (pitted) 5 pieces.

Processing

Except for the calcium carbonate, cinnabar, and musk, finely chop all the other ingredients. Add 2 dou of water to a silver vessel and simmer over low heat until reduced to 7 sheng. Filter through raw silk to remove the dregs, then simmer again until reduced to 5 sheng. Add the calcium carbonate and stir continuously with a willow wood whisk. As soon as the mixture begins to set, remove from heat and pour into a basin. Mix in the cinnabar and musk powders until evenly distributed,then transfer it to a porcelain container, ensuring it is airtight.

Instructions for Use

Take 1 or 2 qian per dose after meals and before bedtime, mixed with cold honey water.
